Remembrance: Honouring the Armed Forces Communities Past, Present, and Future

X-Forces Enterprise (XFE) had the distinct honour of attending a reception at 10 Downing Street to mark Remembrance and recognise the contribution of veterans who have dedicated their lives to our nation.

The invitation reflected XFE’s unwavering commitment to supporting those who serve and have served, as well as the families and communities who stand alongside them.

On Friday 8th November, two beneficiaries from XFE and Soldiering On Awards accompanied CEO Ren Kapur MBE and the team through the iconic black door of Number 10. Standing shoulder to shoulder, they represented the full breadth of the Armed Forces family – military children, reservists, those currently serving, and our cherished veterans. The occasion underscored a profound sense of unity and respect across generations.

During the reception, each of the group was introduced to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer KCB KC, Secretary of State for Defence John Healey MP, and Minister for Veterans and People Al Carns OBE MC MP. This special moment highlighted the collective support provided by Soldiering On Awards and XFE, as beneficiaries Maj Daljinder Singh Virdee MBE and Phill Jones proudly showcased their contributions.

Maj Virdee, recent winner of the Defence Inclusivity Award at this year’s Soldiering On Awards, presented the Prime Minister with a newly launched Sikh Subedar silhouette.

Veteran and entrepreneur Phill Jones, affectionately known as The Chocolate Soldier, offered a box of his signature chocolates – a testament to his successful resettlement, supported by XFE’s self-employment workshops delivered for the MOD’s Career Transition Partnership.

Reflecting on the event, XFE Founder and CEO, Ren Kapur MBE commented:

“It’s moments like these that remind us of the legacy we all share and our commitment to honouring the past, present, and future of our community. At XFE, we dedicate ourselves to supporting the entire military family, recognising that each story and experience strengthens the fabric of our society.”

In a light-hearted moment, the group even caught sight of Larry the cat – the famed ‘Chief Mouser’ of No.10 – slipping through the famous door!

For us, honouring Remembrance Day goes beyond a single day of recognition. It’s a year-round commitment to supporting those who have served, those currently serving, and those who will serve in the future. Today we are reminded of the collective responsibility to support our military community – we will remember them.
