The Month of the Military Child 2025

April marks the start of the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognise and celebrate the incredible resilience, strength, and contributions of children from Armed Forces families.

At X-Forces Enterprise (XFE), we are dedicated to supporting the whole Armed Forces family, and that includes empowering young people with enterprise skills, confidence, and opportunities to thrive. Throughout this month, we will be highlighting our work with young people and Cadets, sharing inspiring stories, and showcasing the impact of our initiatives.

The Unique Challenges of Service Children

Growing up in a military family comes with unique experiences – frequent relocations, adapting to new schools, and long periods of parental deployment. Despite these challenges, military children develop a remarkable ability to adapt, build resilience, and contribute positively to their communities. The Month of the Military Child, led by the Armed Forces Families and Safeguarding Team (AFFS) within the MOD, is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their achievements and raise awareness of their experiences. Events throughout April, from art and poetry competitions to school activities, help shine a light on these wonderful Service children.

XFE’s Commitment to Young People

At X-Forces Enterprise, we believe that investing in young people is essential for building a stronger ecosystem and community. Our commitment to enterprise education ensures that military children and Cadets gain the skills they need to shape their futures with confidence.

Our CEO, Ren Kapur MBE, has a long history of supporting young people. In 2009, she was appointed by the Secretary of State for Education as the National Champion for Business, Admin and Finance as part of the Education and Employers Taskforce to champion Enterprise Learning; this passion for empowering future leaders has remained central to XFE’s mission. Over the years, we have worked with cadet services and leading businesses to ensure that no young person is left behind.

Young People in Enterprise: Building Future Leaders

Through our Young People in Enterprise programme, we introduce young people to the world of business, teaching them essential skills such as:

  • Understanding how businesses and society work
  • Developing an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Money management and financial literacy
  • Effective communication and presentation skills

The Cadets in Enterprise initiative further extends this support by working with Cadet Forces to develop leadership and business acumen. These programmes help young people explore their potential, whether they aspire to become entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, or future leaders in their chosen careers.

Stay Engaged Throughout April!

As we celebrate the Month of the Military Child, we invite you to stay engaged with us throughout April. Each week, we’ll be sharing stories, insights, and updates on how we’re working with young people in the Armed Forces community. Follow our journey, share your support, and don’t forget to Purple Up! on 25 April.
