The new CTP, re-procured by the Ministry of Defence and newly delivered by public services provider Reed in Partnership, will help approximately 15,000 Service leavers each year through personal resettlement support, access to subsidised vocational training courses, training grants, resettlement allowances, a new Digital Platform, workshops and events, housing and finance briefs and links with thousands of forces friendly employers looking to hire.
The new CTP will provide a similar style of personal support and increases the range of training courses available, while a number of enhancements to further improve the Service leaver’s chance of successful resettlement are included.
These enhancements include expanding the range of holistic support options available, developing new sector pathways to key industries, further enhancing the self-employment support available in partnership with X-Forces Enterprise (XFE), and expanding the use of expert networks to offer career guidance opportunities, including insight and mentorship from Veterans, senior leaders in growth sectors and CTP Alumni.
Ren Kapur MBE, CEO and Founder of XFE, said:
“Since 2016, XFE has provided enterprise skills training to men and women leaving the Armed Forces through the CTP. These skills – whether one decides to start a business or not – are of paramount importance when making a transition from military to civilian careers.
“We look forward to many more years of working together with the CTP and delivering high quality training to those who have given so much in service of our nation.”
A new Digital Platform will provide Service leavers with best-in-class digital support, tools and resources, and utilise emerging technologies that enhance the training and support it provides, including incorporating intuitive machine learning to improve the personal relevance of the information and advice provided to each user.
Donna Murrell, Managing Director at Reed in Partnership said:
“Reed in Partnership’s mission has always been to positively transform people and their communities. Delivering the new CTP presents an important opportunity to support people who protect our nation and help it to prosper.
“It is extremely important to us that Service leavers using the CTP receive outstanding resettlement support to achieve their goals – whether through employment, education, training or retirement. We know through our previous experiences of supporting and working with Service leavers the unique skills and experiences that they can bring to civilian life. A successful resettlement benefits them, their families and our wider communities.”
The CTP will continue to provide workshops and a range of careers events each year, including a programme of nine, large scale, CTP Employment Fairs. Training and support will continue to be delivered from Resettlement Centres across the UK, including the flagship Resettlement Training Centre located in Aldershot.
Al Carns OBE MC MP, Minister for Veterans and People, said:
“Our Service Personnel and their families make great sacrifices to keep Britain secure at home and strong abroad. A career in the Armed Forces is uniquely challenging and helps develop a diverse range of transferable skills that brings huge benefits to businesses. We are committed to ensuring our people are supported when transitioning into civilian life.
“This new Career Transition Partnership will ensure our people can capitalise on these skills, offering a holistic and detailed level of support, where thousands of service leavers will have access to state-of-the-art digital resources, specialist career consultants and pathways into industry. I am excited to see those leaving Service go from strength to strength with the support of Reed in Partnership.”
The Forces Employment Charity will continue to provide specialist support for Early Service Leavers and Personnel on Recovery Duties. The Forces Employment Charity will also continue to work with employers to source relevant job opportunities for Service leavers and provide a dedicated Central Support Team for all leavers and XFE looks forward to collaborating with them to ensure that no one is left behind.
Alistair Halliday, Chief Executive at the Forces Employment Charity, said:
“We look forward to working alongside the wider team to come together and ensure that every Service leaver continues to receive the support they deserve.”
Ren Kapur MBE continued:
“To echo Donna Murrell and Al Carns’ points, resettlement does not happen in isolation: a successful transition has a positive impact on the military family, while the skills and experiences of Service Leavers benefit society itself. We at XFE are proud to play a part in delivering effective resettlement training, beginning today with our first workshop under the new CTP.”
